The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) released the 2024 Report Card data, including star ratings for individual schools and other resource information, on December 3, 2024. The School Report Card provides a comprehensive overview of school performance across various metrics, such as Academic Achievement, Academic Progress for elementary and middle schools, School Quality and Student Success, Graduation Rates, and College and Career Readiness for high schools. Dr. Carey M. Wright, State Superintendent of Schools, shared, “Over the last five years, the Maryland School Report Card has shed light on the factors that drive school success and student achievement,” As we move forward, we will explore ways to incorporate credit for student growth on assessments. This will ensure our accountability system evaluates schools in clear, streamlined ways that educators, administrators, and families can easily understand.”

Key highlights for Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) include:

  1. Graduation Rates: The district continues to achieve high graduation rates for both the four-year and five-year cohorts, reflecting the effectiveness of the comprehensive support systems and student engagement initiatives. CCPS’ graduation is 7.7% higher than the current State average of 85.81%. The 2023 - 2024 four-year graduation rate for CCPS is 93.54%.

  2. School Quality and Student Success: Improvements in school quality and student success indicators have been noted. The School Quality and Student Success indicator measures student performance based on regular attendance, positive perceptions, and participation in rigorous coursework.

  3. Academic Excellence: CCPS students in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics continue to score significantly above state averages. This success is a testament to the district's focus on high-quality teaching and learning.

The 2024 Report Card data for Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) reflects improvement across various areas. Overall, CCPS elementary schools showed progress in Academic Achievement, Progress in Achieving English Language Proficiency, and School Quality and Student Success. Middle schools demonstrated notable improvement in School Quality and Student Success, while high schools achieved advancements in both Academic Achievement and School Quality and Student Success. These results highlight the district's ongoing commitment to enhancing educational outcomes for all students.
